Reunion This Saturday

posted Aug 17, 2017, 6:09 AM by Neal Advisory Council

Kairos Community,
We invite all our female volunteers to join us in prayer for the ongoing Kairos ministry in the Neal Unit. We ask all our male volunteers to not only pray but also join us this Saturday for our monthly reunion.
When: Saturday 8:30 to noon
Where: Neal
Bring: ID and Name Badge
Don't Bring: phone, cash, wallets, weapons

Our last reunion was wonderful. One man from Neal 37 found forgiveness for the first time during the Kairos Weekend in April. God is continuing to move in his life, months later. During the July reunion, for the first time he showed empathy and compassion for the family of his victim. These are new emotions for him, only made possible by our God who is the giver of life. Our good, good Father gives us life abundantly. What a blessing it is to us volunteers to see God's ongoing process in these men's lives. Please join us this Saturday, even if only for an hour. Our presence as volunteers is a tangible sign of support from the entire Christian Family of Believers. By seeing us now, men in white are reminded that Christians are waiting with open arms when these men in white return to their communities on the outside.

Opportunity To Serve

posted Jul 17, 2017, 2:57 PM by Neal Advisory Council

Neal Kairos Team,

We have an opportunity to raise some money for our team that can go 100% towards the funding of a weekend for the Neal Team.  We have been offered to host the concession stand at Oliver’s Saddle Shop Rodeo this Saturday at the Range Riders Rodeo grounds.  Times have not been determined yet as there may or may not be a 10 am rodeo (lasting around 4 hours) but there is for sure a 6 pm rodeo.  You can help in a few ways.  First is to come out & help with the concession stand for a few hours (would only need a few people to help with this).  Text me & I will get you on the schedule whenever you would be available.  We have no idea how busy it will be so any help is appreciated but I will let you know if I think we have enough volunteers when you text me.  If we add the 10 am show we definitely will need some morning help & I will let you know is they add that as soon as I find out.  The other way to help is to bake a dozen or so cookies that we will sell out there.  You can bring them by my house anytime Thursday or Friday & we will bag them to sell.  My address is 5300 Fulton Dr & you can knock or just leave them on the porch.  Call or text with any questions & thanks in advance for any help.  Finally, be praying for us as we know God has us out there for a reason, so may we be a light to all those we come in contact with at the rodeo!

Day 1 Recap of 2 Day Reunion

posted Jul 15, 2017, 1:13 PM by Neal Advisory Council

Neal Kairos Community,
I asked for prayers that we could have enough guards to have a reunion this weekend. Turns out there weren't enough guards, yet prayers had been answered from our team. Thank you for praying. God allowed the prison to allow us to have the reunion today despite a lack of guards. Now the following won't be a story I tell a potential Kairos volunteer because I don't want their imagination to run wild and then they back out of volunteering due to fear. But today we were in the gym with about a hundred men in white(criminals, as the world calls them) with no guard at all with us. This isn't the first time I've not been able to see a guard, but this was the first time I knew we didn't have one. Yet not once did I feel anything but peace. The world may see a room full of scary men. I saw a room full of men seeking to grow closer to God and their fellow man. That's certainly a blessing and not something to be feared. God has blessed each of us to allow us the chance to be part of prison ministry.

I spoke with a man in white today who clearly understands the heart of Kairos. I asked him if I could pray for him. He asked for prayer for two family members, rather than himself. This is the first sign of spiritual maturity I saw from him today in our brief conversation. He has a brother (who has been in Neal before and is now currently out) who was doing good in his spiritual walk, but let his walk slip and has fallen into his cocaine addiction again. The man in white I was speaking to also asked for prayer for his sister. His sister is seeking God and has a spiritual walk with Christ but believes she doesn't need to be part of a church. His prayer request is that she find a church home to get connected with. You see, this man in white understands the heart of Kairos. It is fellowship with other believers. We Are The Church! He and I then discussed some things we both had been learning in scripture. I shared a situation where I had been reluctant to forgive someone, yet I want to be willing. I want to be like Stephen in Acts where he was able to forgive as people were stoning him to death. I desire to have that compassionate of a heart. He then shared with me how he had a conflict with a friend at Neal. He wanted to confront the friend on how the friend had wronged him. However, he sought wisdom from his Christian Kairos brothers first. After talking with them, he realized his desire to confront was actually selfish, and a healthier approach is the one he took. He forgave. Kairos Community, these men are growing closer to God. They are helping each other. They are leading others in Neal. And I have no doubt they will be leaders in their homes and communities when they are released. God is moving in the unit.

Please pray we are allowed to have our 2nd day of our 2 day kairos reunion tomorrow. Also, we didn't have many free world volunteers today. Men, please make an effort to come for even an hour tomorrow between 8:30 and noon, if you aren't already committed that entire time at your own church. It's not about me and you. It is about these men seeing their Christian community caring about them.

2 Day Reunion This Weekend

posted Jul 15, 2017, 1:12 PM by Neal Advisory Council

Kairos Community,
We are blessed to have a 2 day reunion about 3 months after each Kairos Weekend. It is now time for Neal 37's 2 day reunion! Both days will be about 8:30 to about noon.
Bring current photo identification, name tag, and your street weekend cross(if you have one).

Men, even if you can only come for an hour or two, please come. Even if you haven't volunteered in a few years, please come. Our presence, representing the Christian community, is a huge encouragement!

Women and men,
Please pray tonight we have enough men and women in grey. Continue to pray for the men in white. We usually have between 80 and 140 men in white that attend Kairos Reunions. God is changing the entire Neal Unit through our Kairos Graduates. Keep their growth and maturity in Christ in your requests and praises. Please pray for free world volunteers for Neal 38 in November.

2 Day Reunion and Neal 38

posted Jul 15, 2017, 1:11 PM by Neal Advisory Council

Kairos Community,
Next week we have our 2 day reunion. I am excited to see how our men are growing. We will meet at Neal Saturday and Sunday at 8:30am. Please pray we have enough guards to have Kairos both days. Bring your ID and cross from your street weekend. Leave your phone, wallet, and everything else in your vehicle or at home. Even if you can only come for an hour or two, please come. Your presence is a huge encouragement. Check our facebook group each morning to see if Kairos has been cancelled for any reason. https://www.facebook.com/groups/KairosNeal

Please keep Ray Saavedra and Neal 38 in your prayers. He is still forming his team. Last time we talked, he only had a few people who had volunteered. Due to scheduling conflicts, we will be having our fall Kairos the weekend before Thanksgiving in November. Please pray for volunteers. If you know someone who would like to be part of our ministry, have them contact Ray at (806) 420-9443. He has not had a chance to call everyone in our community yet, so if you feel lead to be part of Neal 38, go ahead and reach out to him.

Reunions, Prayer Updates, and Neal 38

posted Jun 16, 2017, 6:34 AM by Seth Trujillo

Tomorrow we have our monthly reunion at Neal. Please meet at Neal at 8:30 am. This is a different time than previous reunions. We will try this time to see if it works better at the gate. Please make every effort to come, even if only for an hour or two. It really encourages the men in white when we are there. Next month is our 2-day reunion. As most of us volunteer with our churches, please make arrangements from next month so you can attend Saturday and Sunday, July 15th and 16th. Both days are 8:30 until about noon.

Jon Phillips was in a motorcycle accident just over a month ago. Continue to keep him in your prayers. Most of his bone breaks are on track. He is healing faster and better than doctors expected. Jon is giving the glory to God.

Terry Graham's father passed away this week. The funeral is tomorrow. Please keep his family in your prayers.

Neal 38 is 153 days away. The fall Kairos has been moved to the weekend before Thanksgiving in November rather than October. Please pray for volunteers. As Jesus said, "The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few." Ray Saavedra is our weekend leader. His phone number is 806-420-9443. His first team meeting is at HCC North Grand (across Grand from De Falco) on July 22nd. That is is only a month away.

Also, the advisory council has been combining several contact lists into one. If you know someone who isn't getting email communications, please let me know by emailing me at strujillo@kairosneal.org

Reunion, Donuts, and Neal 38

posted May 15, 2017, 4:50 PM by Seth Trujillo

Kairos Community,
Saturday we have a Kairos Reunion. This is the first reunion since Neal 37. Please come and encourage the man you prayed for and hosted. Reunions include men from previous Kairos Weekends, so we ask all male volunteers to come encourage the men in white on Reunion weekends. This is a wonderful place to serve our ministry if you are at a point in your life where serving on an entire Kairos weekend is no longer an option. I spoke to many of you who now fall in this category. You are still wanted and needed in our ministry!

Where: Neal

Also, please feel free to join us at 6:45am for breakfast and fellowship at the Donut Stop at I-40 and Grand. We will eat breakfast and pray before heading to the reunion. While t he reunion is for our male volunteers, I encourage ALL our volunteers, male and female, current and past volunteers, to join us for breakfast.

What to bring: name badge and identification(like a driver license)
Optional: cross from you Kairos or street weekend, money for coffee and donuts at donut stop, cheap pen, watch
What to wear: normal Kairos attire ie collared shirts, not solid color, no open toed shoes, no shorts...
Don't Bring: mobile phones, smart watches that can send or receive text, fancy bling, knives, guns, grenades, flamethrowers, you get the idea :)

PS We have 185 days until Neal 38. Please be in prayer about being part of our team. Ray Saavedra is the weekend leader. We had to make some adjustments to work with the prison and De Falco. Because of this, we will not have a Kairos in October but rather in November. Ray prefers phone calls to emails or text messages. He usually gets off work between 3 and 5 pm. Feel free to call him any day after that. His number is (806)420-9443. We have 185 days until the next Kairos weekend. It is November 16-19, the weekend BEFORE Thanksgiving. His team building dates are 7/22, 8/5, 8/26, 9/9, 10/7, and 11/4.

November Reunion

posted Nov 17, 2016, 9:18 PM by Seth Trujillo

Hello Church!

This Saturday is our monthly reunion. If you were a part of the previous weekend, or any weekend for that matter, please come show your support for this community. Be at the gate at 8, with only your ID, and car keys, and help these men continue to change their lives. You'll be out of there by noon and blessed beyond measure so what have you got to loose?

Much love and respect for all you do,

Nick and Shaina Weisgerber
