Last Team Meeting

posted Mar 28, 2016, 2:36 PM by Seth Trujillo

Dear Kairos Family:

Thank you for your willingness to serve our Lord Jesus Christ by being part of Kairos Prison Ministry.  Our final team meeting is this Saturday.  It is very important that we have as many team members as possible attend this last team meeting and we prepare to deliver a message of hope, love & encouragement to the Neal Unit.  As with the past team meetings this meeting will be at Hillside Christian Church, South Campus with breakfast staring at 8:00 AM.  Here are a couple of the items for the meeting and preparation for the Kairos weekend

1)      If you are giving a talk and your talk has not been reviewed, please be prepared to have your talk reviewed at this meeting.  All talks must be reviewed prior to the Kairos weekend.  You will also need to bring four copies of your talk to DeFalco on Thursday, April 14th

2)      Continue to work on your encouragement letters, each team member will need to have 42 encouragement letters prepared for the participants.  These should be handwritten and leave the salutation blank as we will not have the names of the participants until the Kairos weekend.  We will put the names on the letters on Friday evening, the 15th, also bring blank envelope to DeFalco for the letters

3)      Prayer Vigils-if you are helping getting a prayer vigil filled our please continue to work on that and if you have circulated it around your group please bring to team meeting this Saturday

4)      Continue to PRAY for the men at the Neal Unit, the prison staff and our team.  Prayer is the foundation of the weekend and we know God is going to show up and do amazing things and lives will be changed

posted Mar 17, 2016, 12:08 PM by Seth Trujillo

Dear Kairos Team Members & Kairos Family:

Thank you for your willingness to serve in the Kairos Prison Ministry, we had another great team meeting over the weekend, and we are excited to see God move in our hearts as well as the brothers in white on the Neal Unit next month.  As we prepare for the weekend we need to make sure this weekend is covered in prayer.

Please print off the attached prayer Vigil and circulate among your small group, family, co-workers, Sunday School class members and anyone else who is willing to commit to a 30 min time slot from Thursday evening to Sunday afternoon.  We will have help from the graduate brothers in White but really need as many of these everyone to print one off and get as many people to sign up as possible

Please bring the Vigils back to the last team meeting on April 2nd.

If you’re not serving on the team, we would love to have you take a time slot. Just email Rodney Cross at rodneypcross@gmail.com and he will get it marked down.

Be blessed and keep on keeping on for Jesus!

Kairos Team,

A couple of the team ladies are cooking breakfast for you this Saturday! There will be sweet (Shelly's cinnamon rolls!!) and savory (Bethany's breakfast burritos!!) so please don't be late to the serving table--first come, first served!!

Kairos Outside is preparing your lunch as part of their fund raising. Remember, Kairos Outside provides their weekends to the guests at no cost, and each weekend costs approximately $10,000.00.
They will prepare lunch for the entire team so plan to stay, eat, and support this sister ministry. We don't want to cause them to lose money in a fund raising effort!!

Please arrive on time and stay throughout the meeting to respect the preparation and efforts Andy and others have made. We'll come to recognize each other "in the breaking of the bread," and prepare for the weekend at the same time!

Love, love,

Patricia Wright

April 14-17th Kairos Neal #35 Weekend

December 30th, 2015

posted Feb 28, 2016, 1:59 PM by Seth Trujillo

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

I hope and pray you had a wonderful Christmas and enjoyed the blessings of family & loved ones as we celebrate the birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ. 2016 is right around the corner and with that, Kairos Neal Walk #35 will be held on April 14-17th . Our first team meeting will be next Saturday on January 9th @ Hillside Christian Church South Campus
6901 Bell Street (the same location as Casey Cameron’s team meetings)

The team meeting will start @ 8:30 am and be over by 1:30 pm. We will have a lunch break around 12:00/12:30pm. Here are some things you can do in preparation for the Kairos weekend and first team meeting
• Invite prospective new team members to enjoy the blessing of serving on a Kairos team, family members, small group members, co-workers. Pray for God to give you wisdom on who to invite, we all should have at least one person(s) in mind to invite. Sometimes we assume we will have a big team at the Neal Unit but this is not always the case & we need new & former team members to serve including YOU!

• Pray for the team, team leadership, the brothers in white that will be on weekend and the brothers in white at the Neal unit in and out of Kairos. As many of us know this has been a season of change as this will be the first Kairos since Chap & Warden Bakers retirement.

• Please make every effort to make the first team meeting and as many team meetings as possible as we unite together with the common goal of sharing the love and forgiveness of Christ Jesus with those affected by incarceration.

Contact me for the team application you can complete prior to the team meeting. If you are a new team member and not an approved TDCJ volunteer you will need to compete the attached TDCJ volunteer application. We will have both of these forms at the meeting as well. We will have pizza and salad for lunch and some breakfast items as well as coffee and other drinks. Please bring a small donation to help cover the cost of lunch.

I look forward to serving with each one of you- If you have any questions at all please contact me directly

Walk #35 Postponed

posted Oct 3, 2015, 11:15 PM by Seth Trujillo

Neal Kairos Team, Family, and Friends,

The Neal Kairos weekend planned for October 8-11, 2015, has been postponed.

Illnesses among the team/family members, conflicting personal obligations, and other circumstances beyond control led the Advisory Council to decide that this weekend would not be "God's Special Time" to hold the Kairos weekend.

Current Advisory Council members, including Rector Andrew Cortez, discussed the postponement via phone calls and messages. The AC sought input from veteran team members, former rectors, and the Neal Unit's volunteer chaplain's assistants. After prayer, discussion, and consideration, the decision is to delay Neal Kairos #35 until April 14-17, 2016. The Advisory Council contacted Kairos of Texas regarding its decision, and KOT feels postponing the weekend is the wise thing to do.

Although the Neal team has never postponed holding a weekend in the past, concerns for following the Lord's leadership, and the situations of team members/families, brought the AC to this decision.

The dates for the next Kairos, April 14-17, 2016, are already reserved on the chaplain's calendar and at Bishop De Falco Retreat Center. Information on team formation meetings will be posted early in 2016. Please begin praying now for Neal Kairos #35, God's Special Time!

If you have questions about the postponement, please contact any Advisory Council member. Contact info is available via "Contact us" with a list of members and email addresses.

Thank you for your continuing support of this unique, powerful ministry.

Sincerely,

Neal Kairos Team Advisory Council
